How Do You Lead?

I thought that I would do something a little different than what I usually do on my blog. Rather than my typical post, I thought I would keep it brief and hopefully open up a discussion.
Here is the topic:
As leaders, we are expected to inspire, motivate, and keep morale up.
Rather than share what I do, I am interested in hearing what you do as a leader to meet this expectation?

    Hi,
It is always a pleasure to read posts like this inparticular, specially after going through things such as the ones you said in your post. I recently encounter a very unfair and unprofessional situation by some personnel at a recent job that I loved. As a leader I love giving my heart to meet my expectations. I believe in having a passion to any position that I may have. Giving your heart produces passion that with time, it will reproduce tools that will greatly meet your expectations as a leader.

Daniela, Thank you for the kind words. You are so right. Passion is a great thing to possess and demonstrate as a leader.

Hey Ramiro, Expectations absolutely start with the leader. To inspire and motivate comes through modeling and in fulfilling those expectations. And it shows with what Daniela said, through “giving my heart”. Those you lead will know what’s in your heart simply by how you carry and handle yourself. Leadership is such a fine balance, that few are able to be effective. I was in a leadership position and worked with many leaders like everyone else. I knew what was in the heart of a person, good and bad, with how they were with me and others. And I know those I worked with knew what was in mine. Passion is revealed through action, words and interaction. A special calling to be sure. I just pray I made a difference.

    Sir,
We have a commitment to our livelihoods to be an exceptional leader, not forgetting as we go down that road not to sway from our moral and ethical obligation as some challenges in our daily job test our resolve. Do we do the right thing for our employees or the company? Is there a compromise? The closer I am to that center line the better I feel about myself. Maybe I am just kidding myself, but my integrity, honor and commitment to both human life and the company that has given me so much deserve my loyalty and a promise to do make it work for both.

  4. some people are leaders and some people think they are leaders but where is the line? You can be great with paper work and people might say he/she is organize and compassionate and cares about the organization! In reality Leaders are aware of the discrepancies on campuses, know the teachers needs and can anticipate problems before they happen. I have seen situations where counselors can be great at their job and try to become educational leaders and they lack that certain leadership skill. Just because you are a great counselor or teacher does not mean you will be a great administrator! Becoming a great administrator has to be a passion that comes from your heart and have the drive to succeed! There are more components to be a great leader but you would have to find that out by yourself!
